He was born and raised in New England and then at the age of 13, moved to Pittsburg, PA. At that time, he was influenced by the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Eric Burdon of The Animals, The Kinks.
In his mid-teens, the Motown sound found Pittsburg and strongly influenced Jody — Mr. Otis Redding. Wilson Pickett, Sam and Dave, Aretha Franklin and many more soul artist of that era.
Jody played drums in a real garage band with two other young lads who bought equipment from the Sears catalogue. Jody moved back to New England at age 16 and his influences changed again. this time, he turned to Jimmy Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Mississippi John Hurt, Pink Floyd, Moody Blues and John Mayall.
Jody also began playing guitar and learning finger-picking on an eight-dollar guitar that his aunt gave him. After high school, Jody migrated to Toronto, Ontario where he immigrated and discovered the likes of Bruce Coburn, The Guess Who, Rush and so many more great Canadian bands.
Jody began to write songs and became a street performer in the hey-day of the 70s, giving him the opportunity to hone his skill as a songwriter and singer. He played at the Free Times Café and in the many of the coffee houses that were operating in Toronto at the time. He also began writing songs with more serious intent. More recently, he has recorded a three-song EP plus a 10-song album that summarizes his many influences.
His dream is to play Canadian and American folk festivals as well as small, more intimate places along the way — singing songs of love and peace, human rights and social change. Perhaps he will see you out in the crowd one day…
